A machine for the production of plywood boxes

• Success for the customer: By using the lubrication-free dryspin® lead screw technology, Silmec was able to save up to 10 litres of lubricant. In addition, 30 kg of CO2 were saved.

The machine has an automated section that enables the stapling of plywood boxes with eight stapling points made of galvanised stainless steel. The machine belongs to the category of specialised automatic machines and is capable of stapling packaging in a single operation using eight stapling points equipped with quick-clamping devices from 12 to 22 heads.

During the production processes, the company was confronted with large amounts of wood dust, which was a troublesome and extremely challenging task for the engineers. This problem required careful analysis of the processes and innovative solutions to ensure the efficiency and safety of the entire production chain. In addition, they had considerable difficulties in achieving efficient lubrication, which further impaired production processes. This resulted in short downtimes during operation.

In combination with the threaded spindle and the matching lead screw nut, the drylin® linear guide ensures a lubrication-free, dirt-repellent and smooth process in the production of plywood boxes.

linear guides are a key component of many machines and systems today. The linear guide from the drylin® N series with matching lead screw technology consists of an anodised aluminium C-profile that offers an excellent combination of strength and lightness. They are operated free of grease and oil. This has several advantages. Firstly, there is no need for regular maintenance as no lubrication is required. In addition, the environment remains clean as there is no contamination or leakage of lubricants. The absence of external lubricants also reduces operating costs. The lightweight design of the linear guide also enables higher speeds and accelerations. They also have a low coefficient of friction, which minimises wear and additionally extends the service life.
